Job Title: Superintendent – Maintenance
Reports To: Director of Agronomy
$50,000 -$60,000K Annually, DOE
The Superintendent oversees the maintenance and upkeep of the golf course. This would include the following: the golf course, Holes 1-18, irrigation pumping station (if applicable) and system, the driving range (if applicable), the clubhouse area and parking lot, as well as the outside perimeter of the course.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Superintendent reports directly to the Director of Agronomy. All agronomic planning, budgeting and project planning are collaborated with the director and the superintendent. The Superintendent is responsible for the hiring of all staff, staff work scheduling, and supervision of the work crew.
The Superintendent would be responsible for scheduling the maintenance to ensure consistent, quality playing conditions are maintained on all surfaces throughout the course. The Superintendent will communicate frequently with the Director of Agronomy to ensure all necessary standards are being met and adhered to.
The Superintendent would be responsible for implementing and applying all relevant fertility in conjunction with the agronomic plans agreed upon. He/She is also responsible for all chemical applications, and or the supervision of any chemical applications, applied to the golf course in accordance to Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) Laws and Regulations. This would include: Pre-emergent & post emergent herbicides applications, fungicides, insecticides and any other form of pesticide applied to the golf course. He/she is responsible for understanding and following all safety practices in the use of fertilizer and chemicals. Material Data Safety Sheets must be kept in order and available to employees. Proper maintenance and calibration of all spraying equipment is expected. The Superintendent is required to keep up to date and accurate records of all chemical and fertility applications made to the golf course in accordance with State and company policy.
The Superintendent will supervise and participate in the operation, programming and maintenance of the Toro irrigation system. He/she will also be required to have a thorough understanding of daily irrigation set-up with the Toro Lynx Computer software for all golf course irrigation needs. They will regulate the use of the irrigation system by daily irrigation scheduling. Accurate records of water and system use are required to be kept. Records would include monthly meter readings on water usage to be compared with course irrigation records.
The Superintendent will supervise and participate in completing all special projects at their course. Projects include, but are not limited to weed control, aerification practices, topdressing, verticutting, bunker maintenance, etc. Coordination with the Director of Agronomy, Equipment Manager and the Golf Maintenance Special Projects Manager would be required to ensure that proper materials and equipment are available, and those projects are done correctly with minimum interference to golfers. This will also include the supervision of approved contractors for larger Capital Projects.
The Superintendent will monitor work habits of the crew and is responsible for the complete training of all golf maintenance staff. The Superintendent is responsible for following all onboarding procedures for new hires, managing weekly payroll, vacation approvals, and ensure that all necessary approvals are completed in accordance with company policy.
The Superintendent will also be responsible for monitoring equipment use and training all maintenance staff on the safe and proper use of the equipment. He/She will work in conjunction with the Equipment Manager and the on-course mechanic in keeping accurate equipment maintenance records, fuel and oil usage records as well as overseeing the wellbeing of all company equipment and assets. He/She will be required to communicate directly with the Equipment Manager and on-course mechanic on equipment repairs, equipment needs, breakdowns, and various equipment problems.
The Superintendent is responsible for the supplemental ordering of all supplies for his relevant golf course. This includes chemicals, fertilizers, course supplies, fuel and oil, as well as many other items required, from company approved vendors. He/She will co-ordinate with the Equipment Manager on the ordering of all necessary equipment parts throughout the year.
The Superintendent will also, in collaboration with the Director of Agronomy, continue their ongoing education by attending seminars and conferences as applicable.
The Superintendent must follow all budgets accordingly and does not have authority to wave the purchasing policy, payroll procedures, or exceed the established budget without the permission of the Director of Agronomy or the President & CEO.
The Superintendent is expected to liaise with the Pro-Shop Manager daily and in advance of all course golf operations, golf course conditions, tournaments and other golfing events taking place on their golf course.
Two- or Four-year turf grass maintenance degree preferred.
Three to Five years prior golf course experience with progressive responsibility
Consideration will be given to those who exhibit exemplary performance
Working knowledge of turf grass maintenance equipment and irrigation systems
Mechanical skills and experience working on Golf Maintenance Equipment is a plus
Must be in possession of, or within 3 months of hire date, obtain a Texas Department of Agriculture Non-Commercial Pesticide License.

Location: Beeville Country Club is a member owned private, 9 hole Club with a driving range, restaurant, tennis courts and bar.
Responsibilities: We are seeking an experienced working golf course superintendent. Successful candidate must be a team player, experienced in chemical and fertilizer applications, irrigation systems and overall golf course maintenance with a keen eye for detail. Applicant must be able to properly maintain all golf course machinery and equipment and be experienced in minor repairs. Must have, or be able to a acquire in a timely manner, a TDA pesticide license.
